The case began with an emergency call from Casey Anthony's mother, Cindy Anthony, in mid-July.
On the tape, she is heard frantically telling emergency operators, "I can't find my granddaughter. ... There's something wrong. ...I found my daughter's car today and it smelled like there's been a dead body in the damn car." Casey Anthony then got on the phone and reported she may have a missing child.

Casey Anthony,  the mother of two year old Caylee, accused of murdering her child.

Caylee disappeared June 15, 2008 after visiting with her Great Grandfather.

It is reported,  "There was some sort of huge argument Father's Day weekend," said Kathi Belich, a reporter for WFTV. "I am told neighbors heard yelling. There was some sort of big fight."

Two weeks later, on June 30, the family car Casey had been using was found abandoned in front of an Orlando cash advancebusiness and towed away.

Casey, the mother, never reported her missing for a month, while partying with friends.  The Grandmother of Caylee,  mother of Casey,  Cindy, contacted the Police on July 15, 2008.  Stating that no one had seen the child Caylee for a month.

Casey Athonly was arrested on July 16, 2008 for child neglect and lying to investigators.
August 28th, State prosecutors are dangling an immunity offer in front of Casey Anthony in hopes of finding her missing  daughter. But the deal comes with no promise that the mother of Caylee Marie will go free.

If she agrees, Anthony would receive "limited-use" immunity, meaning that any direct statements she makes to investigators could not be used to prosecute her, legal experts say. Evidence generated from her information, however, would be fair game.

So if Caylee is dead, as Orange County sheriff's investigators have suggested in recent days, Anthony's help in finding her would not necessarily prevent her from being held responsible for the death.

She and her attorney, Jose Baez, have until Monday September lst to accept the deal or it's off the table, said Randy Means, the spokesman for the State Attorney's Office

Defense did NOT accept and rejected the offer.

July, 2008 Attorney Baez said if the family can't speak with Casey Anthony freely, it could slow or prevent anyone from finding her. He also told the judge if he denied the motion, he was playing with fire.

"Your position, Mr. Baez, seems to be, 'Just trust us. We are trying to do an investigation here and if get anything we will tell you about it. Just trust us.' Well, it just doesn't work that way," Judge Stan Strickland said.

Lawyers representing the sheriff's office argued that detectives are in charge of the investigation and they decide whether it is for release, Local 6 reported.

Strickland then denied the motion.

"When push comes to shove in a case like this, I'm going to err on the side of the First Amendment every time and I'm going to do so by denying your motion and that is going to be it," Strickland said.

August 5th  Formal State Criminal Charges Filed in Missing Florida Toddler Case, DNA Tests Complete.

Autopsy report of Caylee Anthony.   Crime scene technicians spent more than a week scouring the wooded area at the end of Suburban Drive to locate the remains.

The autopsy report shows they collected "an almost complete skeleton of a young child with only multiple small bones missing. The missing bones include small bones from the wrists and hands, as well as fingers and ankle, hyoid and patella," the report said.

The report shows several overlapping pieces of duct tape on Caylee's skull.

"Although there is no trauma evident on the skeleton, there is duct tape over the lower facial region still attached to head hair," the report said. "This duct tape was clearly placed prior to decomposition keeping the mandible in place."

They also noted that a portion of her skeletal remains were intermixed with two plastic trash bags and a canvas laundry bag. "The bags have a woodsy, outdoor odor with no smell of decomposition," the report shows.

Vertebrae were found clustered in an area away from the skull.

Medical examiners noted that there were multiple roots extending through portions of the plastic garbage bag and skeletal remains. At least one root was 10 centimeters in length and "completely extends through the bag."

"The roots growing into the vertebrae and bags indicate that the body was placed there months prior to being found. There is nothing inconsistent with the body being placed there soon after the day of being last seen alive."

Roots had also grown through the Winnie the Pooh blanket found with the plastic bags

May 5, 2009  Sheriff's office transcript of how Casey reacted to news of remains located in December 11, 2008
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Office announced in a press conference Friday afternoon, December 19, 2008, that the remains found earlier this month near the Anthony home do, in fact, belong to Caylee Marie Anthony.  Medical examiner Dr. Jan C. Garavaglia said that the identification was made through a DNA match at the FBI lab in Quantico, Va.

Located by a meter reader.   Was only the skelton remains stuffed in a garbage bag, thrown on the side of a road near the house where Casey and her daughter Caylee lived with her grandparents.

NOTES:   Aug 25, 2008  flooding and evacuations by Hurricane Fay.

Aug 11th, 12th and 13th meter reader reported to authorities of a bag by the side of the road.

A meter reader reported on three occasions in August  that he had noticed a plastic bag by the side of the road.     On December 11th when located, Hurricane Fay had flooded the area and was under water.  Searchers were unable to search there.  Obviously, the bag which had been under water, had been moved and subjected to animals.  When he discovered it then, was not by the side of the road, rather back in the wooded area where he spotted it again, poked at it and a small skelton rolled out with masking tape on the face area.

He returned to the area because of a transfer back to the area by place where employed.  As a matter of curiousity, he walked back into the woods for a short distance, and located it again.  And then reported it to his supervisor, who contacted the Sheriff's office on December 11th and body identified as Caylee Anthony on December 19, 2008.

The OCSO also said the attorneys for the defense had been called to come check out the crime scene at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, but they declined. The reason for their decline remains unknown.   Investigators also went to the Anthony home to tell the family members that they could take a look at the scene Saturday morning.

October 16, 2009  the defense filed a document arguing that the state prevented their experts from examining the lot where Caylee's body was found before it was cleared by evidence gatherers.

Defense attorneys for Casey Anthony succeeded in getting Judge Stan Strickland to remove himself from the case on April 19, 2010.   Strickland said that no one on Anthony's defense team gave him a copy of the motion when it was filed.    Chief Judge Belivin Perry will replace Strickland.

The Florida State's Attorney office filed formal criminal charges Tuesday October 14, 2008 against the mother of missing Orlando toddler Caylee Anthony.

Casey Marie Anthony, 22, was charged with one felony and one misdemeanor offense, in addition to the child neglect charge she already faced. She will be arraigned on the criminal charges.  Also Tuesday, test results from DNA samples taken from a car driven by Anthony came in and were turned over to investigators  The evidence was gathered from the trunk of a vehicle that Anthony was using when her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Marie Anthony vanished in mid-June.  Other DNA samples were taken from the backyard of Anthony's parents' house, where she lived with her little daughter until about the time the girl disappeared. It took Casey Anthony more than a month to report the child missing, which she did on July 15. Caylee was last seen on or around June 15. Detectives reported smelling a strong odor of human decomposition in the car trunk after cadaver dogs led them there. They said they also found hair samples similar to those of Caylee Marie Anthony.

Anthony's trial is set to begin on May 9, 2011.
